Information session for refugees who want to continue playing a part in science (3 july)

Many people were forced to flee from countries such as Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan and Iran in recent years. Many of these refugees are highly skilled people with academic careers, who had to leave everything behind in order to find a safe haven elsewhere. Often their training and skills are all they were able to take with them. It would be a great pity for them and the country they settle in if no one were able to benefit from their expertise!

That is why the Dutch Research Council (NWO) set up the ‘Hestia – Impulse for Refugees in Science’ programme together with The Young Academy, KNAW and the Foundation for Refugee Students UAF. The programme provides funding for the temporary appointment of academics who were forced to flee their home countries and wish to continue their scientific career in the Netherlands.

There will be an information session on 3 July, from 13:30 to 17:00 hrs in the Amsterdam Public Library (OBA).
