Navigating the System at the Tilburg University Network for Women
During a network meeting of the Tilburg University Network for Women, Hanneke Takkenberg, professor of clinical decision-making in cardio-thoracic interventions, shared her insights on ‘How to navigate the system?’. She elaborated on key issues like where to find career opportunities and how to avoid pitfalls.In her appealing keynote, Takkenberg refers to an organizational system as water: you don’t see it, but it is there: happening, floating. In the same way, the effects of informal networks, are there, and they are as difficult to grasp as water. In order to fulfil ambitions, people need to learn to understand the systems better, and maybe even change them for the better.
