The Dutch universities have signed the National Talent to the Top Charter, a public commitment with clear agreements regarding achieving gender diversity at top and sub-top management levels. Collaboration is one of key factors to successful achievement of National Charter goals. The 3TU female academic networks’ conference is an example of such cooperation. It addresses the ‘leaky pipeline’ syndrome by inviting academics to think proactively together about their career choices, setting independent research agendas, engaging in collaborative scientific endeavors and advising on the steps to be taken at different stages of the career by balancing cooperation and competition.
The key questions to be addressed are:
- How to combine competition and cooperation to make the best of your career?
- How to become an independent academic and establish your own research line and at the same time – be cooperative?
- What are the mechanisms that influence the choice to pursue a career in science?
After lunch we invite you to join one of the three workshops at the Twente location or a lecture and a workshop at the Eindhoven location. The conference closes with a panel discussion, moderated by Prof. Sawitri Saharso and Prof. Liudvika Leisyte, followed by a reception.
