Prof. dr. Ann-Sophie Lehnmann
On January 1st 2015, Prof. dr. Ann-Sophie Lehnmann has been appointed Professor of Modern and Contemporary Arts at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Groningen.Ann-Sophie Lehmann studied Art History, History and Philosophy at the University of Vienna and Art History at Utrecht University. In 2004 she was awarded a PhD for her thesis entitled In the Flesh. Jan van Eyck's Adam and Eve Panels and the Making of the Northern Nude. Lehman was University Reader at the Department of Media and Cultural Studies of Utrecht University until the end of 2014. Starting in May 2015, she will spend three months working as a fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
Lehmann has an excellent reputation based on her innovative research on artistic creative processes and material use. She will focus, among other aspects, on further collaboration with the Art Academy and the Groninger Museum. The University of Groningen and the Groninger Museum recently set up a unique training programme together, whereby recent graduates from the University spend two years training to become museum curators.
